單詞的背誦一定要貫穿2016考研復習的整個周期，否則無論是閱讀的復習還是翻譯的復習，都會遇到困難。同時，單詞記憶不能只記中文釋義，要掌握其常見用法、固定搭配，并且在能力范圍內利用詞根觸類旁通。考研對于詞匯的考查主要體現在考生“同義替換”的能力上，也就是考查考生對于語言多樣性的把握，所以考生在背單詞的時候一定要掌握單詞的同義詞。

wedge

n.楔，楔形 v.楔牢，楔入，擠進

【例】His divisive politics drove a wedge into the organization.他的分離政策導致了該組織的分裂。

【真題】Robert Fulton once wrote,“The mechanic should sit down among levers, screws, wedges, wheels, etc., like a poet among the letters of the alphabet, considering them as an exhibition of his thoughts, in which a new arrangement transmits a new idea.”

random

【例】The magician chose a random volunteer from the audience.魔術師從觀眾中隨機挑選了一名志愿者。

【構詞】ran(跑)+-dom(領域)→可以在各領域跑的→隨意的

【同義替換】arbitrary

【派生】randomly ad.隨機地，隨意地

【真題】In theory, the success of an applicant should not depend on the few others chosen randomly for interview during the same day, but Dr. Simonsohn suspected the truth was otherwise.

理論上，一個申請人的成功不應該取決于另外的幾個隨機選取的在同一天參加面試的申請人，但是西蒙遜博士卻懷疑事實并非如此。

latitude

n.緯度;行動或言論的自由(范圍);(pl.)地區

【例】The information can be used to determine the longitude and latitude at any point on the earth’s surface.這些消息可以用來測定地球表面上人意一點點經緯度。

【真題】The test of any democratic society lies not in how well it can control expression but in whether it gives freedom of thought and expression the widest possible latitude, however disputable or irritating the results may sometimes be.

檢驗任何民主社會的標準不是看它如何嚴厲地控制思想的表達，而是看它是否給人以最大限度的思想自由和表達思想的自由，無論產生的效果有時可能是多么有爭議性或令人惱火。
