本書是為高等教育英語專業(yè)“英漢翻譯”課程編寫的新教材，是一部系統(tǒng)介紹中外翻譯理論，理論與實踐相結(jié)合的英漢翻譯學(xué)教科書，對翻譯的定義、性質(zhì)、原則、標(biāo)準(zhǔn)、過程、方法、直譯、意譯、語義轉(zhuǎn)換、詞句翻譯、詩歌及風(fēng)格翻譯、古典漢語、成語、諺語、修辭格和警句的翻譯，逐一講解，英漢對照，廣征博引，資料翔實，精選50多位中外作家的經(jīng)典材料和大量的中外經(jīng)典文學(xué)例句，對英漢譯入語的意義節(jié)奏和自由修飾語的創(chuàng)新性運用，頗有啟發(fā)性，還有雙語閱讀、翻譯實例對比評論、翻譯實踐、百分模擬試題等內(nèi)容，貼近實戰(zhàn)與考研。
